Dr. Bapuji Salunkhe established an institution named "Shree Swami Vivekanand Shikshan Sanstha". On 19 October 1954 in Karad city on the banks of Krishna-Koyna river with the slogan of "Spread Education for Knowledge, Science and Culture". The Main office of the institution is at Tarabai Park. One of its branch works as "Kamala Nehru Adhyapika Vidhyalaya". Dr. Bapuji Salunkhes main motive was to educate women because one educated woman can educate the entire family.

According to the saying 'Matruhasten Bhojanam'. One woman as a teacher can teach all students with love and affection. On 9 June 1955 Kamala Nehru Junior College came into existence. 9 June 2005 to 9 June 2006 is celebrated as the Golden Year.

Students are provided with all the hostel facilities and also the highly educated and fully experienced faculties with valuable guidance. On the whole college campus and the surrounding atmosphere is really enthusiastic and happy.
